A Message from our Pastor

Message from the pastor:

When people ask, “What kind of a church are you”?   I try to put it into one sentence:  “We are Christ-centered and biblically accountable.”  We call ourselves a word-based church, which means the Bible settles the question.  We refrain from using selected “proof texts” but accept the whole counsel of God on any subject.  We see the Bible as a “life” book, not a “rule” book, although there are rules to follow in order to have the life.  Thank God we have more than a book, and that is the “word made flesh,” namely Jesus, and the Holy Spirit who lives within, imparting his life on a daily basis.

When we say we are biblically accountable, it doesn’t mean we’re trying to fit into an ancient cultural mode.  It means we believe the word of God is reliable, authoritative, and helpful for 21st century Christians.  The way Jesus lived his life is the way for us to live our lives because he is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).

Being a word-based ministry sets us free, and helps us set others free.  The life we have in the Spirit, we are privileged to share with others so they too can find freedom.  At Heartsong Fellowship we are free from the “traditions of men” Jesus warned about, free from unhealthy relationships,  free from past sins that hold us back, and free from selfishness that keeps us from loving our brothers and sisters with the love of God.
